Kids & Tween Yoga and Movement

Ages 5-13 | Nottingham

A weekly yoga and movement class for children and young teens who need a calmer, more grounded way to move.

These sessions support strength, coordination, focus, and emotional regulation without competition, performance pressure, or being compared to anyone else in the room.

Who this class is for

This class is open to children and tweens aged 5 to 13.
It works particularly well for those who:

Benefit from structure and routine

Need support with focus, regulation, or confidence

Have outgrown noisy or competitive activities

Want to move without being watched, judged, or pushed

Children do not need any previous yoga experience.

The class is best suited to children who can follow simple instructions and take part independently in a small group setting.

How the class works

All sessions are structured, predictable, and age-aware. Rather than separating by age immediately, the class is taught with layered options so younger children and older tweens can work at an appropriate level within the same space.

Each session includes:

A clear arrival routine to help children settle

Guided movement to build strength, balance, and mobility

Simple breath-based exercises to support focus and calm

Choices and variations so children can work at their own pace

A short grounding or rest at the end of class

The emphasis is on body awareness, confidence, and self-trust, not flexibility tricks or performance.

Older children and teens

Many older children prefer a calmer, non-competitive environment, especially during growth spurts, increased school pressure, or social self-consciousness.

As numbers grow, the class will naturally split into two age groups so that older children and teens can be offered a later session that reflects their stage of development.

This progression will only happen once there is enough demand to do it properly.

FAQs

What if my child is older or younger than the age range?
If your child is close to the age range and you’re unsure, you’re welcome to register interest and we can decide together.

Classes are taught with layered options, and age is less important than a child’s ability to follow simple instructions and take part independently.
What if my child doesn’t settle or wants to leave?

It’s normal for some children to take a session or two to settle.

The first class is free so your child can try the space without pressure. Children are never forced to join in and are encouraged to engage at their own pace.

Is this suitable if my child has additional needs?
Many children with additional needs benefit from clear structure, predictable routines, and calm teaching.

If there’s anything important I should know to support your child, you can share it in the follow-up form after registering interest.
What happens as the group grows?
As numbers increase, the class will naturally split into age-specific sessions so older children and tweens are supported appropriately.

This will only happen once there’s enough demand to do it well.
Why two steps the registration?

Because it keeps registration simple, while still making sure I have the right information before booking opens.

Practical Info

Can I pay per session?

The first session is free. After that, payment is monthly or quarterly to hold your child’s place.

What if we miss a class?

There are no refunds or makeup sessions. Payment secures the place whether it is attended or not.

Can parents stay?

Parents are welcome to stay for the first session. Most children settle better once parents wait outside.

Is this term-time only?

The main class runs year-round unless a break is announced. Nursery-based classes follow school terms.

Will this help with strength or flexibility?

Yes. Each class supports strength, flexibility, balance, and overall body awareness, without rushing or pressure.

Is this suitable for anxious or quieter children?

Yes. Many children who benefit most are those who prefer a calmer, more reassuring environment.
