Structured movement for schools, children, workplaces & retreats

Strength in body. Calm in mind.

Structured school programmes, childrenโ€™s classes, workplace wellbeing sessions and retreat experiences designed to improve posture, mobility, confidence, strength, coordination and body awareness in a calm, supportive environment.

I work with schools, children, teens, adults and workplace teams through yoga, Pilates, breathwork, mobility and movement practices rooted in structure, awareness and sustainable progression rather than pressure, punishment or performance.

The goal is not perfection or performance. It is helping people feel stronger, calmer, more capable, and more comfortable in their body over time through movement that feels structured, supportive, and sustainable in real life.

Movement That Meets People Where They Are

Most people do not need another extreme fitness challenge, another intimidating environment, or another instructor treating movement like punishment.

Some arrive exhausted from sitting at a desk all day and realising their body feels older than it should. Some are rebuilding confidence after injury, stress, burnout, or long periods of inactivity. Some are children or teenagers who need movement without pressure, shouting, or the constant feeling they are being compared to everybody else in the room.

The work is different depending on the person, but the goal underneath it is usually the same: helping people feel stronger, calmer, more capable, and more comfortable in their own body again.

Yoga and Pilates are often associated purely with flexibility, but the reason I teach them is because they improve far more than that. Better posture, coordination, balance, strength, mobility, focus, stress regulation, body awareness, and confidence all sit underneath the surface of the practice when it is taught properly and approached consistently over time.

Everything I teach is built around structured progression, intelligent movement, nervous-system regulation, and helping people reconnect with their body in a way that feels sustainable rather than overwhelming.

Work With Me

School Movement Programmes

School movement programmes are available for primary and secondary schools in Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

Sessions are 45 minutes and combine yoga, Pilates and structured movement to support coordination, strength, balance, mobility, posture, focus, physical confidence, and body awareness.

Schools can begin with a 6-week movement programme, then continue into a 12-week term programme or ongoing weekly provision across the school year if the format works well.

The programme complements PE rather than replacing it. It gives pupils another route into movement, especially those who may benefit from a calmer, more structured and non-competitive environment.

Sessions are practical, active and age-appropriate. Pupils are not expected to be flexible, sporty, confident or coordinated before they begin. The point is to help them build those foundations gradually through clear teaching and safe progression.

Childrenโ€™s & Teen Classes

I teach weekly yoga and Pilates classes for children and teens in West Bridgford for families looking for a calmer, more structured approach to movement.

Some students already love movement and sport but need better mobility, posture, coordination or body awareness alongside everything else they do. Others arrive quieter, more anxious, overstimulated or simply exhausted by environments where everything feels loud, rushed, competitive or performative all the time.

The classes are designed to create an environment where students can move, focus, build confidence and gradually feel more comfortable within themselves without pressure to perform or โ€œkeep upโ€ with everyone else in the room.

Sessions focus on posture, coordination, mobility, confidence, balance, strength, focus and body awareness, with separate yoga and Pilates groups organised based on age, experience and registrations received.

Classes are suitable for beginners, sporty students, anxious students and those who simply need movement that feels more supportive and sustainable.

The taster class is ยฃ5.

Sit Happens - Corporate Programme

Sit Happens is a workplace wellbeing programme designed for desk-based teams across Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

Most workplace fatigue is treated as a motivation problem when, in reality, a large part of it is physical. People are expected to stay mentally sharp while remaining physically still for most of the day, and eventually concentration, posture, energy, movement quality, and stress levels start collapsing into each other.

This programme combines guided movement, mobility work, posture support, breathwork, and nervous-system regulation to help teams move better, think more clearly, and feel less physically wrecked by the end of the working day.

The sessions are structured, practical, and accessible for all levels. Nobody needs previous experience, flexibility, or an expensive matching activewear set that somehow costs more than a small car.

The goal is simply to create healthier, more sustainable working habits that people can actually maintain outside the session itself.

Retreats & Collaborations

Alongside classes and workplace sessions, I also collaborate with retreat spaces, creative venues, and wellness environments to deliver movement-based experiences rooted in calm, reflection, and presence.

Depending on the format and audience, sessions may include yoga, Pilates, guided movement, breathwork, meditation, journaling, or reflective creative practice. Some experiences are quieter and restorative, while others are more movement-focused and physically grounding.

The common thread underneath all of them is creating space for people to slow down properly for a while, reconnect with themselves, and step away from the constant noise and speed of modern life.

Formats range from half-day workshops to multi-day retreat experiences across the UK and Europe.

About Viki

Iโ€™m Viki Thorbjorn, an abstract artist, writer, and movement teacher based in Nottingham.

My work combines movement, art, writing, and emotional intelligence through experiences designed to help people reconnect with themselves in a more grounded and honest way.

I hold Level 3 Diplomas in Yoga and Pilates, a Childrenโ€™s Fitness & Pilates qualification, safeguarding certification, meditation training, and an MA in Creative Practice.

Before all this, I was an athlete and founded a sports club, so structure, progression, and proper teaching are deeply built into how I work.

I take the work seriously, but I also think movement becomes far more effective when people stop feeling intimidated by it.
