Art, movement, emotional intelligence and the quiet power of presence

I’m Viki Thorbjorn, a multi-award-winning abstract artist, writer and movement teacher based in Nottingham.

My work brings together collector-grade abstract art, embodied movement, writing and emotionally intelligent practice. Across all of it, I’m interested in what helps people return to themselves: colour, stillness, structure, movement, truth and the kind of beauty that does not need to shout across the room to prove it exists.

This press kit is for journalists, editors, writers, producers and collaborators looking for clear information, written interviews, expert commentary, editorial features or thoughtful collaboration.

I’m available for written interviews, written Q&As, expert comment, editorial features and selected guest essays.

I do not currently take part in podcasts, video interviews or live broadcast interviews.

Book praise

Stillness Is a Weapon

Stillness Is a Weapon is a written body of work on creative recovery, emotional survival and the quiet power that does not perform.

It sits between memoir, essay and creative manifesto, exploring what happens when stillness stops being passive and becomes a form of self-return.

Available through Viki’s website and on Amazon in Kindle, paperback and hardcover.

Your book is so exquisitely written and spoke to me in ways even I didn’t understand I needed.” — Janye Hardy – author & creative

A beautiful meditation on the true healing power of creativity” — Amy Britton – journalist

Viki’s words are a mirror for every creative who’s ever had to fight to be heard. This book is not just about art—it’s about reclaiming power, healing from silence, and choosing courage over comfort. As someone who’s walked the path of reinvention and risk, there is wisdom in these pages.” — Toyosi Olowe- artist & entrepreneur

Truly inspirational, emotive and heartwarming read, every page was soul inspiring and evoked a sense of depth and truth within the words, that resonated with me deeply” — Maria Badshamiah – glass & fine artist

Current work

Collector-grade abstract canvas art

Viki creates collector-grade abstract canvas prints for private collectors, interiors, retreats, hotels and emotionally intelligent spaces. The work is created for people and places that want art to hold presence, not just fill a wall. Selected works are available through the Collector’s Vault, with private commissions available through Capsule Commission.

Stillness Is a Weapon

Stillness Is a Weapon explores creative recovery, emotional survival, silence, refusal, stillness and the private work of returning to yourself. It is available through Viki’s website and on Amazon in Kindle, paperback and hardcover.

Movement, schools and workplace wellbeing

Viki’s movement work includes children’s and teen yoga and Pilates-inspired classes, school movement programmes in Nottingham, and Sit Happens, a 12-week corporate wellbeing programme for desk-based teams. The work focuses on posture, mobility, coordination, confidence, focus, body awareness and sustainable movement habits.

Creative collaborations and licensing

Viki is open to selected brand collaborations, licensing conversations and editorial partnerships where the work can be reproduced with care and integrity. This includes premium homeware, interiors, publishing, retreat environments and thoughtful design-led projects where atmosphere, emotional intelligence and production quality matter.

My Creative background

A life shaped by colour, energy, and emotional resonance.

helped me process what I could not explain and gave shape to things that did not yet have words.

Over time, I explored portraits, murals, illustration, competitions, exhibitions and commissions. I sold work, studied, experimented and kept returning to the same thread: the emotional charge of colour, the intelligence of the body and the relief of making something honest.

My background also includes competitive sport, movement teaching and embodied practice. That part of my life matters because I do not separate the body from the work. The body knows when something is true. It knows when a space is tense. It knows when beauty is empty and when it has weight.

Since 2024, my practice has expanded into art, writing and movement, but the centre has stayed the same.

I paint for resonance. I write for truth. I teach movement because the body deserves to be included in the conversation.

Everything I create is about return: to presence, to strength, to stillness, to the part of ourselves that usually gets buried under noise.

Creative philosophy

My work is built around one question: what helps people return to themselves?

Art, writing and movement are different languages, but they all tell the truth in their own way. The artwork is made to be lived with. The writing is there to name what often stays unspoken. The movement work is about awareness, strength, steadiness and the quiet confidence of being at home in your own body.

This is work for people and spaces that are no longer moved by surface.
